Most Common Questions about Towbars and their Fitment!
What is the difference between a Light Duty and a Heavy Duty Towbar?
The main difference other than the fact that a Heavy Duty Towbar can generally tow a heavier weight than a light duty Towbar, is that Heavy Duty Towbars have a removeable tongue.
What is involved with fitting a Towbar?
On sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs etc. we generally have to remove the back bumper to fit your Towbar. Once the Towbar is then fitted we then fit the wiring (wiring type is dependent on the brand of Towbar) and in some cases have to perform a bumper cut. This is usually a very small and more often than not unnoticeable cut.
On Utes, if the vehicle has a step (back bumper on a vehicle with a tub tray) we normally have to remove the step, fit the Towbar and then reattach the step. We then fit the wiring. If the vehicle does not have a step, we simply bolt the Towbar onto the vehicle as per instructions.
Is there anything I need to do before bringing my car in for it's Towbar fitment?
When we fit Towbars to vehicles such as SUVs, we generally have to work in the boot of the vehicle to fit the Towbar and wiring, so if it is possible to, taking anything unnecessary out of the back before your appointment can be helpful. We understand it's not always possible, so if you are unable to remove things in the back, don't worry.
